SKYDIVING INSTRUCTOR DIES FROM INJURIES AFTER PARACHUTE FAILS TO OPEN IN WALLER CO.

A skydiving instructor has died after suffering injuries during a tandem jump with a student in Waller County on Saturday.

According to Skydive Houston, the accident occurred around 12:30 p.m. in the 1600 block of Kitty Hawk Drive in Waller.

Authorities said the parachute for the male instructor and female student failed to open during their jump, resulting in severe injuries upon landing.

Skydive Houston said both of the skydivers were air-lifted to an area trauma center, where the tandem instructor later succumbed to his injuries.  The student’s injuries are reported to be serious, but not life-threatening.

Jump operations at Skydive Houston have been suspended, pending investigations from local law enforcement and the Federal Aviation Administration.
