BLINN BOARD TO DISCUSS INCREASES TO TUITION, FEES FOR 2022-23
The Blinn Board of Trustees will meet Thursday to consider increases to the College’s tuition and fee schedule for the 2022-23 Fiscal Year.
The board will potentially authorize increases of $2 per credit hour for in-district student tuition, $3 per credit hour for out-of-district students, and $1 per credit hour for out-of-state/foreign students. The College is also proposing to raise general fees by $3 per credit hour. The additional tuition and fees are projected to net the College an extra $2.4 million in revenue.
In addition, the College is looking to increase meal plan rates on average by 3 percent and student housing rates by 4 percent. While food service revenue is expected to increase by $707,000 from last year, the College is planning for a drop of $1.05 million in housing revenue.

Another item trustees will consider on Thursday will be to possibly move forward with contract negotiations for general contractor and audio-visual contractor services related to the esports renovation at Mill Creek Hall on the Brenham Campus.
The board will also consider authorizing the College to negotiate and execute contracts for flooring contractor services to replace the floor at Melcher Hall on the Brenham Campus, and for roofing contractor services to replace the roof at the Boehm Building on the Brenham Campus. Lastly, trustees will receive the Washington County Appraisal District’s amended budget for Fiscal Year 2020-21 and its Fiscal Year 2022-23 budget.
The board will meet Thursday at 10 a.m. in the third-floor board room at the Brenham Campus Administration Building.
They are not taking into consideration the continued drop in enrollment these significant increases will cause. I hope someone on the board wakes up and realizes they are outpricing their market and will suffer even more. Will someone make them show the enrollment from 2019-current along with the price increases… you will see an inverted trend. Also, someone needs to analyze the rates for Blinn College versus their competition within 100 miles…newsflash they will get a better experience for LESS money. Those fee increases are only to fund the poor decisions of substantially overpaid administration.
