A Taylor man was arrested Saturday night after his alleged driving under the influence of alcohol led to a traffic crash that sent four people to the hospital.
Authorities were called around 10:30 p.m. to the scene of a two-vehicle crash on Highway 290 West near FM 1948.
A DPS trooper arrived on the scene and found a gray pickup truck and a black passenger car that were still attached because of the collision.
The rear of the passenger car suffered extensive damage.
DPS reports said that the driver of the pickup, 29-year-old Trevor Litke, admitted that he was intoxicated and that his being intoxicated had caused the crash.
According to DPS Sgt. Justin Ruiz, Litke was not wearing pants or underwear despite the outside temperature being near freezing.
He was administered a field sobriety test and failed.
Originally, Litke was going to be charged with Driving While Intoxicated. However, because the four occupants in the other vehicle all required being transported to Baylor Scott & White Hospital in Brenham for treatment of serious injuries, the charge was raised to Intoxication Assault.
Litke was taken to the Washington County Jail. He bonded out this (Monday) morning.
