New details have been released on the chase out of Waller County that ended in Brenham Monday afternoon with the suspect crashing into a deputy’s vehicle.

The Waller County Sheriff’s Office said it received a call around 3:30 p.m. reporting unauthorized use of a motor vehicle in the area of FM 359 and Highway 290, close to Hempstead.  Deputies approached and attempted to stop the vehicle in the 49900 block of Highway 290, but the driver reportedly refused to stop, and a pursuit ensued.

The sheriff’s office said the driver continued west on Highway 290, ignoring traffic laws and law enforcement.  Waller County dispatchers notified surrounding agencies as the pursuit entered Washington County, where deputies deployed spike strips on the vehicle to attempt to safely stop it.

As the vehicle’s tires deflated, authorities used a PIT maneuver to end the pursuit in Brenham.  According to the City of Brenham, the chase ended with the suspect crashing into a deputy’s car in front of Las Fuentes Mexican Restaurant.

The driver, 25-year-old Coty James Glover of Houston, was taken into custody without incident, and is charged with Evading Arrest or Detention with a Vehicle, a third degree felony.  He was taken to the Waller County Jail, where his bond was set at $10,000.

The sheriff’s office said there were no injuries to any civilian, deputy or the suspect.
