After 33 years in public education, including the last eight with Snook ISD, Brenda Krchnak has announced plans for her retirement.

Krchnak said that she wanted to announce her plans early so that the Board of Trustees can begin the planning process of hiring the next Superintendent.

Krchnak’s last day as Superintendent will be July 1. However, she will remain an employee of the district through December 31 in order to assist with the transition.

During her eight years as Snook ISD Superintendent, Krchnak oversaw new instructional technology and curriculum initiatives which improved student performance and closed achievement gaps.

Snook ISD also went from being on accreditation probation and on the verge of closure by the TEA to most recently being rated as a “B” district.

During Krchnak’s tenure, Snook ISD passed a bond in 2018 that built a new secondary cafeteria, fine arts and CTE classrooms, added a new track and football stadium, renovated the maintenance building, and upgraded other facilities.

Also, during that time, the District has been fiscally conservative, maintaining a balanced budget for many years, as well as a strong fund balance despite challenges with state and federal funding.

Snook ISD earned the highest financial rating of Superior Achievement on the Financial Integrity Rating System of Texas.

Board President Kristine Brisco praised Superintendent Krchnak for her ability to build a strong culture of collaboration both within the district and between the district and the community.

Krchnak said that after her retirement becomes final that she is looking forward to whatever comes next, and spending more time with her family.
