INTERIM LEXINGTON POLICE CHIEF KILLED IN ONE VEHICLE ROLLOVER

Jarrod Jarmon

The city of Lexington is mourning the loss of their Interim Police Chief after he was killed in a one vehicle roll-over on Monday.

According to reports from the Texas Department of Public Safety, 47-year-old Jarrod Jarmon was traveling in his 2021 Dodge Ram pickup truck on his way to work

Investigators say that shortly after 8am, Jarmon was traveling northeast on Highway 21 at an unsafe speed for the wet road conditions.

Near the Bastrop County/Lee County line, the truck hydroplaned into a skid, ran off the south side of the highway, struck a tree, and then a barbed wire fence before rolling over.

Jarmon, who was also not wearing a seatbelt, was pronounced dead at the scene.

He had been serving as Interim Police Chief in Lexington for the past three years.

Prior to that, Jarmon had been a police officer and a volunteer firefighter for the city of Elgin. He also spent time working for the Texas Department of Public Safety.

Lexington Mayor Allen Retzloff released a statement saying that Jarmon served the Department honorably and asked that everyone keep his family in their thoughts.

Jarmon is survived by his wife and his two children.

A memorial service for Jarmon will be held Saturday at 2pm at the Providence-Jones Funeral Home in Elgin.
