Faith Mission’s SMART-CARE program is partnering with the Blinn College Football Team to create a new mentoring program.

Blinn Head Football Coach Ryan Mahon has assigned four players to the pilot program which started this Spring, and has been title “B-Famous.”

B-Famous stands for Blinn Football and Athletics Mentoring Others for Ultimate Success.

The four players are Defensive Tackle Tarris Fields from Eagle Lake, Wide Receiver Jaylen Cloud from San Antonio, Wide Receiver Canen Adrian from Houston, and Runningback John Barham Jr. from Columbus, Ohio.

Every Monday and Wednesday from 4-5pm, the players provide cultural, academic, recreational enrichment through tutoring, homework  assistance, academic Olympics, and role-modeling.

Coach Mahon said that he thinks it’s important for the athletes to be involved in the community, and that he is proud that they are making a positive impact on these young people.

Faith Mission’s Science Math Art Reading Technology, Cultural, Academic Recreation Enrichment or SMART-CARE program serves over 50 students from Brenham ISD.

Originally, it was started 16 years ago to help homeless or at risk of homeless children and families. Founder Reverend Randy Wells says that the program is now open to anyone that can benefit from their creative and innovative services.
