The City of Brenham has named its first airport manager.

Debora Pinto started her new role with the Brenham Municipal Airport on Monday.  Pinto comes to the City of Brenham after having served as the airport manager for the City of Edinburg since July 2006.

Pinto says she is eager to assist the city as it looks into becoming its own Fixed Base Operator (FBO) at the airport.

As Brenham’s airport manager, Pinto will be tasked with supervising the activities and duties of other city staff, addressing any issues with facility maintenance, seeking grant opportunities, formulating budgets and welcoming visitors to the airport.  She will also work alongside staff and the appointed airport liaison, Joseph Randy Hodge, in helping to form a master plan with the input of airport stakeholders.

Pinto says getting greater public involvement at the airport is one of her top goals.

During her time in Edinburg, Pinto was named the state’s General Aviation Airport Manager of the Year in 2013.  The South Texas International Airport at Edinburg received the Most Female Pilot Friendly Airport “Worldwide Title” from the Women of Aviation Worldwide Institute in 2016.  She is also a certified member of the American Association of Airport Executives.

Citizens can visit with Pinto at a meet-and-greet on Friday from 3 to 4 p.m. at the Dreamliner Diner.
