LA GRANGE ISD NAMES LONE FINALIST FOR SUPERINTENDENT

(La Pryor ISD)
La Grange ISD has selected a lone finalist to serve as school district superintendent.
The La Grange School Board met Monday to name Matthew “Andy” McHazlett as the final candidate for the position. Current La Grange ISD Superintendent William Wagner plans to retire at the end of this school year.
McHazlett was previously a teacher and coach in La Grange ISD from 2003-2010. He has served as the superintendent of his hometown school district, La Pryor ISD, for the past six and a half years.
McHazlett graduated from Sul Ross State University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1993, before earning a Master of Education degree from Lamar University in 2011. He has previously taught and coached in Burnet, Ingleside, Seguin, Floresville and Midland.
The board must wait 21 days before it can officially hire McHazlett as superintendent. Trustees will meet later this month to name McHazlett as the new superintendent and approve his contract. His start date would be June 1st.
