With just a few days before he competes in the U.I.L. State Track Meet, the number six runner in the country, Eric Hemphill of the Brenham Cubs, has revealed his college plans.

Hemphill announced on Twitter last (Tuesday) night that he will be joining the track team at Texas A&M University on a full scholarship.

On Friday, Hemphill is taking part in the Class 5A State Track Meet in Austin. Individually, he will be in the 400 Meter Dash. Hemphill finished in first place at both the Area Meet in Katy and the Regional Meet in Humble.

He’s also part of the 4x400 Meter Relay Team, which includes La’Tre Bonner, Savion Ragton, and Saif Mohammed. They finished second at Regionals and are also competing at the meet.

In addition to track, Hemphill was also a standout football player for the Cubs playing both wide receiver and cornerback.
