TWO SEMI TRACTORS INVOLVED IN THREE-VEHICLE COLLISION IN CHAPPELL HILL; THREE TRANSPORTED

Three people suffered injuries ranging from minor to major after a three-vehicle accident including two semi tractors Sunday morning in Chappell Hill.

The accident took place at 10 a.m. at the intersection of Highway 290 and FM 1155.

According to DPS Sergeant Justin Ruiz, a 2001 Freightliner and a 1992 GMC pickup were stopped at a red light at the intersection when an eastbound 2005 Freightliner failed to control its speed and struck the rear of the 2001 Freightliner, which then hit the back of the pickup in front of it.

The driver of the 2005 Freightliner, 30-year-old Jeffrey Thompson of Houston, had serious injuries and was flown to Memorial Hermann in Houston.

The driver of the 2001 Freightliner, 51-year-old Jermal Leday of Houston, as well as the passenger in the pickup, 46-year-old Grace Rodriguez of Nederland, were transported to Baylor Scott & White Hospital in Brenham for minor injuries.  The driver of the pickup was not injured.
