SALES TAX REBATES IN JULY UP FOR BRENHAM & WASHINGTON CO., DOWN FOR BURTON
Washington County and Brenham reported increases in its sales and tax distributions for the month of July, while Burton’s were down.
The county’s rebate this month totaled $334,662, up 9.34 percent from the $306,053 it took in last July. So far in 2022, the county has received $2,454,565, up 25.14 percent from its payment-to-date last year of $1,961,342.
Brenham received $731,755 this month, 15.46 percent up from last July, when the city received $633,722. The city’s rebates through this month amount to $5,242,743, an 18.94 percent increase compared to the $4,407,670 received through this point a year ago.
Burton’s July rebate was $6,386, down 13.11 percent from last July’s sum of $7,350. To date, the city has received $55,158, which is up 8.5 percent from its receipts through July 2021 of $50,837.
Comptroller Glenn Hegar reported a state payout of $1.03 billion in local sales tax allocations this month, up 15.3 percent from last July and up 17.8 percent for 2022 to date.
