BRENHAM CITY COUNCIL APPOINTS HOUSING TASK FORCE

Brenham | Washington County Economic Development Director Susan Cates says during Thursday's Brenham City Council meeting that the housing task force will consider and propose ways to increase the housing supply in Brenham.

A team of Brenham and Washington County officials, developers, local stakeholders and employers has been organized to develop strategies to address the need for housing in Brenham.

The Brenham City Council on Thursday approved the appointment of 25 people to a residential task force.  The task force was formed as a follow-up to the residential needs assessment performed last year, and will research and review options to consider the diversity of housing types needed in the community to support ongoing development in Brenham.

Brenham | Washington County Economic Development Director Susan Cates said the dialogue coming from the council’s debate in February on The Bluebonnet tax credit apartment project contributed to the decision to have a group such as this to propose options to expand Brenham’s housing supply.

Cates said the task force includes a cross-section of the community in order to gather input from a variety of voices.

The council will receive periodic status updates from the task force, as well as a final report with its findings.

The full list of task force representatives can be seen in the attachment below.

The fire marshal will serve as the Brenham Fire Department's representative on the task force.

  1. It would have been nice if this board would have some regular citizens also. They are ones effected the most.
