A Bastrop teenager led members of Fayette County law enforcement on a high- speed early morning chase.

Fayette County Sheriff’s Deputy Duane Meagher attempted to stop a Dodge Ram 3500 pickup for a traffic infraction last (Friday) night around 11:45pm on Scott’s School Road, just south of Flatonia.

The driver saw the lights and siren, and then proceeded to flee the scene. The vehicle headed northbound into Flatonia.

According to reports, the suspect was both speeding and driving on the wrong side of the road.

Flatonia Police Sgt. Devan Taylor joined the chase, which ended on Highway 95, when the teenager crashed into the rear of another vehicle where traffic had been stopped due to a railroad crossing.

Fayette County Sheriff’s Deputies Dustin Kieschnick and Seth Nagel assisted at the scene.  No injuries were reported.

The suspect, who is just 17-years-old, was first taken to the St. Mark’s Medical Center in La Grange for an evaluation.

He was then transported and booked into the Dan R. Beck Justice Center, where he was charged with Evading Arrest or Detention With a Motor Vehicle.
