The Grimes County True Blue Foundation is two weeks away from hosting their second annual banquet.

The banquet, which features a steak dinner, will be held on Friday, August 19, beginning at 6pm at the Grimes County Fairgrounds in Navasota.

Guest speakers for the event will be Texas Highway Patrol Chief Orlando Alanis, and Polk County Deputy Sheriff and current Harris County Sheriff Candidate Joe Danna.

There is also going to be live music from legendary country music duo, the Bellamy Brothers.

In addition to that, the Champions Barbecue Alliance has sanctioned a barbecue cookoff for the event.  The categories include chicken, pork ribs, pork butt, and brisket.

The entry fee is $225 per team with a $10,000 payout.

Proceeds from the Grimes County True Blue Foundation Banquet go to help purchase equipment for local law enforcement, provide financial support or other needs for officers who have been injured in the line of duty, and for scholarships to attract men and women to attend a law enforcement academy.

To purchase tickets to the banquet, or to register for the barbecue cookoff, visit their website at https://grimescountytrueblue.org.
