A Washington County 4-H member was recently elected to the Texas 4-H Council, and participated in a retreat at West Texas A&M University to prepare her for her upcoming year representing 4-Hers across Texas.

Madison Moran was elected District 11 4-H Council Chairman. She is the daughter of David and Christy Moran of Brenham, and is a junior at Brenham High School.

Madison is one of 29 4-Hers from across the state of Texas serving on the 2022-2023 Texas 4-H Council.

The Council is made up of a team of 4-H members elected by their peers from across the state of Texas representing the twelve AgriLife Extension districts.

Members represent the organization statewide while collaborating with the Extension faculty to plan, coordinate, and facilitate activities and events.

Some of the key events that they will participate in this coming year are the State Fair of Texas Ag Awareness Days and Texas Honor Awards, the Junior Leadership Retreat in Brownwood, the Texas 4-H Roundup in College Station, and multiple events on the district level.

The Texas 4-H Council, the Texas FFA Officer Team, and the FCCLA are all made up of leaders who have strived to excel in their county, district, and area roles.

Now after having achieved state leadership responsibilities, they plan to continue to drive greatness in these youth programs that are working to help develop young people who could be our future leaders.
