  1. This is honestly silly – complaints on the black uniforms:

All schools have two colors then usually black or white as the third

Schools with black or white as a second color usually will choose the opposite neutral because both go with any color.

The third color (Brenham, Burton and Blinn all black) is normally an accent color but if late it’s a third option jersey.

I felt when Blinn did it, they looked sharp. Kelly Green and black works well too.

There are many teams that would love to have a new Jersey this year, but costs or shipping have prevented them getting one.

Instead of gripping about this, celebrate the athlete’s accomplishments.

  2. For all of you that think things should stay the same, I encourage you to come walk the halls of BHS. They are far from the same as 10, 20, 30 years ago. The student body is truly a mixture of all kinds.
As a teacher we are encouraged to build relationships and get to know students and I can say that is one thing these new coaches have done. They have shown these boys they believe in them, hold them to a high standard and want the best for them. They showed up all summer long for weights and continue to build a culture built on hardwork and disciple and it is being seen in the hallways of BHS. They are making a difference. As a teacher in the classroom, it is noticed and truly appreciated.
The blow up entrance is great. I’ve heard cheerleaders in the past talk about being embarrassed to have to hold a cheap sign when most other schools have a classier entrance. As for the black uniforms….. give it a try. All the other sports have black and the kids love them. If you don’t like black, don’t come to the games…. Those complaining probably don’t anyways.
    Be Better Brenham. Go Cubs??

  3. I’m disappointed in everyone. Things don’t have to stay the same to be great and if the uniform is your only complaint, that’s a little silly. The “blow up toy” is awesome and as a contributing member of the Booster Club, AND a Brenhamite, I’m excited for our kids! You should be too! Times change, embrace it!
    ?? Go Cubs ??

  4. Just because it’s been done before doesn’t make it a tradition. In addition, just because it’s a tradition doesn’t mean it can’t be improved upon. Things change, times change, we all change. It’s really ok!!

  5. Wow…I’m the words of the late great Sport Doc…A blow up toy? Black Jerseys, getting rid of the game day green jackets, and now a blow up toy? Traditions are officially dying in Brenham. Sad

    1. Cub Fan, you left out the new puke looking lime green uniforms. School colors have always been kelly green and white. Coaches West and Allen did not bother changing that. Also now using the cute Twitter hashtag, #ForTheBrand. Too much has changed since the new coach hit town in February. Definitely doing things his way. Let’s hope the winning seasons and playoff appearances do not go by the wayside. Based on his won loss record my hopes are not very high. Hope I am wrong. Time will tell……..

      1. The white uniforms with the off green are only being used until the official ones green with white and white with green get here …. so the boys had something to wear. Please just support our athletes!!! They are representing our school and our community better than some adults are right now. The black touches have been on them for years to make things stand out.

      2. Well, seeing as they lost their first game I don’t hold out much hope. Why on earth did they hire a coach with such a sad record?

        1. Wow, they lost their first game so I guess the season over. First of all they were playing a 6A team. The first half Brenham had the best team on the field. Costly mistakes in the second half can be fixed;
          1. Snaps over the quarterback’s head too many times
          2. Punt returns that went 20-30 yards in the wrong direction.
          3. The second half the boys were not hydrated, having cramps, and worn out.
A good coach can fix these things.

        2. Because no one wants to be in Brenham anymore. Brenham’s best days are in the past.

          1. So explain why the population is increasing and houses are selling. Makes NO Sense, Common Sense.

    2. Cub Fan-did you have a problem with black cheer uniforms when your daughter wore them. Did you comment every time about I can’t believe the cheerleaders are wearing black the school colors are green and white only. No you went to the games and supported her no matter what she was wearing. Have you seen the jackets up close? They are not in good shape. and they do not all match. Are you going to give the football department a huge donation to replace them? Probably not. The boys are wearing their jerseys to school today like the old days. So maybe we going back to tradition of wearing jerseys to school. And as far as the blow up tunnel, the boys love it so why dont you just support the boys. Why must you complain about everything.

      1. Sorry you have the wrong Cub Fan, I’m the OG Cub Fan. No cheerleader dad here. I along with traditional Cub Fans have NEVER liked ANY black for ANY uniform with Brenham!! Kelly Green and White!! I have seen the jackets and maybe they should have taken the money spent on the “black out” uniforms and bought new Jackets? I’m perfectly fine with introducing new traditions, but I’m totally against dismantling all the traditions that made Brenham what it was, and I stress was!!

    3. The green jackets were not tradition …. those started with Coach West!! You want tradition … look at the year books from the 80’s and 90’s and maybe even farther back than that …. the football boys wore their game jersey all day at school and into the pep rally. As someone who stood on the opposite end of the gym – starting straight at the guys – for all 4 years of high school, I know what I saw. Please JUST SUPPORT OUR ATHLETES!!!

  6. Why was swim team left out? I mean, we all know no one cares about other sports than the ones recognized but those kids sure care. How do you think they feel being left out of an event like this?

    1. The Swim athletes are part of the Spring Meet the Cubs. They are not forgotten or overlooked.

    2. I don’t remember the basketball teams being introduced so they may have something in store before those seasons get underway.

      1. There is a Spring Meet the Cubs for the sports that play solely in that season or those not a part of the Fall Meet the Cubs. This includes basketball, baseball, softball and many other sports. It is usually in the gym at High School but they try to include ALL athletes and sports.
