The Blinn College women's soccer team blanked Trinity Valley Community College 9-0 in a Region XIV match Wednesday at Hohlt Park's Rankin Field in Brenham, Texas.

The victory improved the Buccaneers to 4-3 on the year and pulled them even in the region at 3-3.

Blinn opened the contest by scoring its quickest goal in program history when freshman forward Emeyda Cruz scored on a header just 16 seconds into play (assisted on a cross kick from freshman midfielder Brianna Hoffman).

"I thought it was important that the girls came out with an attitude of determination to win," Bucs head coach Alexandria Jackson said. "After a couple of tough losses, we bounced back and won this game to get back on track and that's big for us."

Six different players scored for Blinn, with three Buccaneers finding the back of the net twice.

In the second half, the Bucs maintained their offensive pressure with goals from sophomore defender Taiya Mitchell (unassisted header); an unassisted corner kick from freshman midfielder Jasmin West; a corner kick from freshman midfielder Chloe Hood; and a corner kick from sophomore midfielder Kay-Lynn McCall (assisted by sophomore Deja Marsh).

Blinn finished with 23 shots and tallied 13 shots on goal. Trinity Valley totaled one shot on goal.

Freshman goalkeeper Sydney Gibbs made one save for the Bucs.

Blinn continues its season with a region home bout against No. 4 Navarro College at 5 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 24, at Rankin Field.
