COLORADO CO. FAIR EVENTS KICK OFF THURSDAY
Activities for the 48th Annual Colorado County Fair in Columbus begin tomorrow (Thursday).
The Colorado County Fairgrounds will play host to livestock and rodeo events, carnival fun, and live music acts through Saturday.
Tomorrow will kick off at 8 a.m. with the hog, lamb, broiler, goat and ag mechanics shows. It will also be Senior Citizens Day and Kids Day at the fair. Opening ceremonies will be held at 5 p.m. and will include the crowning of the fair membership queen. The Broken Spokes Band will perform beginning at 6 p.m.
More livestock shows will be held on Friday starting at 8 a.m. with the steer, heifer, commercial heifer, junior breeding heifer, bucket calf and rabbit shows. Friday is Tejano Night, with music by DJ Jimmy Mixx from 5 – 6 p.m., 7:30 – 8 p.m. and 9:30 – 10 p.m.; Projecto Norteno at 6 p.m.; Tropical Panama at 8 p.m.; and De Parranda at 10 p.m.
Saturday will have livestock judging getting underway at 7 a.m. A parade will ride through downtown Columbus at 10 a.m. The evening’s entertainment will be provided by Climate Change at 3 p.m., the Logan Ryan Band at 7 p.m., John Foster at 9:15 p.m., and Cody Canada and the Departed at 10:30 p.m.
Other activities will include the Heart of America Carnival, a circus and petting zoo, barbecue cook-offs, a cornhole tournament, a tractor pull, axe throwing, a mechanical bull, mutton bustin’ and CPRA rodeo events.
