SALES TAX REBATES UP FOR ALL WASHINGTON CO. ENTITIES IN OCTOBER

  

October marked the third month in a row that Washington County, Brenham and Burton all reported higher sales and tax distributions than a year ago.

Washington County’s rebate this month totaled $350,174, up 14.33 percent from last October, when the county received $306,257.  The county has taken in $3,550,796 so far this year, an increase of 21.66 percent when compared to last year at this time, when the county had received $2,918,435.

The City of Brenham reported an October rebate of $749,902, up 10.23 percent from the city’s rebate of $680,245 last October.  At this time in 2022, the city’s receipts amount to $7,570,134, a 16.24 percent increase from the $6,512,277 it had received through this point in 2021.

October’s rebate for the City of Burton was $8,693, a marginal increase of 1.45 percent, as the city received $8,568 last October.  Through the year so far, the city has received $82,683, up 10.55 percent from its year-to-date total last year of $74,787.

Comptroller Glenn Hegar reported $1.06 billion in local sales tax allocations paid out by the state this month.  That total is up 17.4 percent from last October and up 16.4 percent for the year through this time.
