WCVA TO OBSERVE VETERANS DAY FRIDAY WITH PROGRAM
Washington County residents are invited tomorrow (Friday) to honor those who have served in the United States Armed Forces at the annual Veterans Day program hosted by the Washington County Veterans Association (WCVA).

Tomorrow’s program begins at 11 a.m. at the American Legion Hall at Fireman’s Park in Brenham. KWHI will have a live broadcast of the program starting at 10:45 a.m. on AM 1280, FM 101.7 and kwhi.com.
The featured speaker will be Lieutenant Colonel William “Rusty” Weedman, who is currently assigned as the J4, Chief of Logistics for the Texas Military Department in Austin. Weedman has deployed to Kosovo, Iraq, Afghanistan and Kuwait, and has received numerous awards and decorations.
Before the program, VFW Post 7104 will sponsor a Veterans Day breakfast at the Post home, located at 1200 East Tom Green Street. Doors will open at 6 a.m. and breakfast will start at 7 a.m. All veterans and their guests are invited.
A pork steak meal will be served after the program at the American Legion Hall. Advance tickets are no longer being sold, but a limited number will be available at the event.
In observance of Veterans Day, several offices in Brenham and Washington County will be closed tomorrow. They include Brenham City Hall, Brenham Municipal Court, Brenham Animal Services, the Blue Bell Aquatic Center and all Washington County offices.
The Nancy Carol Roberts Memorial Library will be closed tomorrow and Saturday. The Brenham & Washington County Visitor Center will be open tomorrow from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. The Collection/Transfer and Recycling Station will remain open with normal hours, while residential and commercial trash pick-up will run on its standard schedule.
Bluebonnet Electric Cooperative’s offices will be closed tomorrow. Members can access their account information, make payments and report power outages while offices are closed by going to www.bluebonnet.coop, using the co-op’s mobile app or calling 800-949-4414.
