NAVASOTA POLICE MAKE DRUG ARREST AFTER TRAFFIC STOP

One person was arrested by Navasota police after mushrooms and marijuana were discovered in a vehicle following a traffic stop late Sunday night.

Around 10:45 p.m., officers stopped a vehicle in the 2200 block of North LaSalle Street.  Police made contact and detected the odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle.

A search resulted in police finding over a pound of marijuana, over 100 grams of psilocybin mushrooms, and paraphernalia used in distribution and packaging.

The passenger, 18-year-old Paul Dunkor of Kennedale, took responsibility for the narcotics and was taken to the Grimes County Jail, where he was charged with Possession of Marijuana 4oz-5lbs and Possession of a Controlled Substance Penalty Group 2 4-400 grams.

The driver, 19-year-old Quamia Hewitt of Mansfield, was cited for Minor in Possession of Alcohol and released at the scene.
