University of Houston Head Volleyball Coach David Rehr has been named as the American Athletic Conference Coach of the Year.
Rehr, who is in his fourth season with the Lady Cougars, has guided them to a 28-3 record so far this year. At one point, they had a 20-match winning streak.
They are also conference co-champions with Central Florida after each team posted a 19-1 record.
Prior to coming to UH, Rehr was the Head Volleyball Coach at Blinn College. During his nine seasons with the Buccaneers, he posted a 313-35 record.
That included two national championships in 2008 and 2011.
After Blinn, he had a seven year head coaching stint at Arkansas State, before taking the UH job.
The Houston Lady Cougars open this year's National Championship Tournament against South Dakota on Friday at 3:30pm.
