The Brenham Planning and Zoning Commission will potentially make a recommendation to adjust the 2022 Thoroughfare Plan map at its meeting Monday.

The item comes before commissioners after it was found that the map shows a planned collector street going through land owned by David Klinger along the east side of Old Masonic Road, within the city’s extraterritorial jurisdiction.

Klinger seeks to plat a 10.6 acre portion of his tract to develop four residential lots and wishes for the collector street between Old Masonic Road and FM 2935 to be removed from the map, as it could reduce the property values of his proposed platted lots.

City staff recommends approving an amendment to the thoroughfare map to remove the collector street.  An alternative connection will be researched and brought forward at a later date.

Also on Monday, the commission will review a request from Chris and Deanna Marek for a specific use permit to allow an accessory dwelling unit (ADU) in an R-2 Mixed Residential Use zoning district on a 0.386-acre lot at 604 South Baylor Street.  The applicants plan to use the single-story ADU to accommodate guests and as a short-term rental.

Staff is recommending the commission approve the permit with the conditions that the tract of land be replatted from two lots into one residential lot, and that a proposed off-street parking area and driveway be made with either asphalt or pavement.

The commission will meet Monday at 5:15 p.m. at Brenham City Hall.
