SUSAN JENKINS NOT RUNNING FOR RE-ELECTION TO BRENHAM SCHOOL BOARD
Brenham ISD Trustee and longtime educator Susan Jenkins has announced she will not seek another term on the school board.
Jenkins has served on the Board of Trustees as secretary for 10 years and has been a teacher for 36 years. She began working for Brenham ISD in the fall of 1981 and retired in 2013.
Jenkins appreciates all the support the community has given her both as a teacher and trustee, saying she has “nothing but happy memories” and is “so proud of everything that we’ve accomplished.”
Brenham ISD honored Jenkins as Brenham High School’s 2005-06 Teacher of the Year. In 2013, she was recognized as an Outstanding Educator by the Texas A&M University Dean’s Roundtable.
Jenkins feels it its time to let someone else step up to give their new ideas and support Brenham ISD and its students however they can.
In a statement, Brenham ISD thanked Jenkins for “her dedication to the students, and community of Brenham,” saying she “has touched and changed the lives of countless individuals.”
Jenkins’ seat on the school board is one of four up for election this spring. Dr. Michael Altman and Kelvin Raven hold two of the seats, while the remaining position is vacant following the resignation of Mark Schneider in May.
Filing has begun for the May 6th elections, with the last day to do so being February 17th. Early voting runs April 24th through May 2nd.

My compliments to this lady, Susan Jenkins, for her years as an educator and for her time serving on the board. Thank you!
