BRENHAM POST OFFICE LOOKING FOR NEW POSTMASTER

The Brenham Post Office is searching for a new postmaster.

United States Postal Service spokesperson Evelina Ramirez told KWHI that the Brenham Post Office currently has an Officer In Charge (OIC), an interim position while the Post Office looks for an official postmaster.  Michael Bonnette is serving as the OIC.

Ramirez said the previous postmaster, Jerry Nelson, was transferred to Pleasanton.

The OIC holds all the roles as a normal postmaster, managing the daily operations of a post office with regards to mail delivery, retail services and other operations.

Ramirez said the timeline for the temporary assignment varies, but it is “common for an OIC to be in place for several months.”

Full statement from Evelina Ramirez, USPS Corporate Communications - Media Relations

An Officer In Charge (OIC) is currently in place at the Brenham Post Office. The timeframe for this temporary assignment varies, depending on each individual office and the needs of the Postal Service, but it is common for an OIC to be in place for several months.  Use of a temporary Postmaster is not unique to Brenham or the local area.  The Postal Service utilizes individuals as OICs across the nation, in communities of all sizes.  The OIC fulfills the same responsibilities as the Postmaster, to manage the daily operations of a post office, with regards to mail delivery, retail services, and other operations, to serve our customers. The current OIC, Michael Bonnette, is based at the Brenham Post Office, and is always available to address any customer concerns.

  1. My God leave the post office alone. Yes they need all the windows open but we don’t need too build a new one. All the new impatient residents that have moved here can’t wait to change it to what they left.

    1. Totally agree… very much need to find a post office location that meets the needs of our growing community. Smaller communities have post offices larger and more accommodating than ours.

    1. If ever we need anything in this town it is a new post office. I pay taxes too but ours has served us way too long.

      1. Which is older the post office or the junior high. Both need to be replaced but if we have to vote to have a new post office I bet more people with vote for it then a school.
