BURTON SCHOOL BOARD TO EVALUATE SUPT., CONSIDER ADMIN CONTRACTS

The Burton School Board will review several administrative positions at its meeting Monday.

Trustees will perform the annual evaluation of Superintendent Dr. Edna Kennedy in executive session and discuss her contract and salary.  They will also discuss the contracts for the elementary and high school principals, assistant principal, counselor and athletic director.

No action was taken following Dr. Kennedy’s evaluation in January 2022.  The year prior, the board voted unanimously to extend her contract through June 30, 2024.

In other items, the board will consider the proposed calendar for the 2023-24 school year.

Election business will also come before the board, as it will consider approving a joint election contract with the City of Burton and an order of a school board election for the positions of Dean Fuchs, Misty Lucherk and Donna Putnam on May 6th.  It will then appoint election officials.

Also on Monday, trustees will:

  • Hear a facilities bond project update.
  • Call a public hearing to discuss the district and campus Texas Academic Performance Reports.
  • Consider a board policy update affecting local policies.
  • Discuss and consider a 2022-23 application for a low attendance day waiver for Burton Elementary School on December 16th.
  • Discuss and consider a proposed Washington County Appraisal District surplus funds budget amendment for the 2021-22 budget year.
  • Consider approval of adjustment of the 2022-23 school calendar student minutes and professional staff development days.

The board will meet Monday at 6 p.m. in the Burton High School Auditorium.
