BUILDING PROJECTS, FIRE DEPARTMENTS, MORE TO BE DISCUSSED IN WASHINGTON CO. COMMISSIONER WORKSHOP

Washington County Commissioners will take up several topics during what looks to be a lengthy workshop on Tuesday.

First up for the court will be building projects, including talks on a helipad for the EMS Station No. 3 in Burton, a sixth EMS station to be located at Lake Somerville, a storage facility, the courthouse exterior and landscape programming.

Next will be the county fire departments, with a dialogue planned on the interlocal agreements for the volunteer fire departments and truck repairs for the Chappell Hill Volunteer Fire Department.

After that, the court will move onto discussion of the Washington County Jail generator, a salary survey for county employees and the Chappell Hill water tower.

Any action will be taken following the workshop.

Prior to the workshop, commissioners will meet in regular session where they will consider the purchase of an ambulance remount and an idle mitigation system through the Houston-Galveston Area Council purchasing cooperative agreement.  The idle mitigation system is listed to be bought with American Recovery Project funds.

Commissioners will then act upon the renewal of bonds for reserve deputy sheriffs William Scott Atwood, Justin Knuppel, Jimmy Morgan and Damon Wegner.  Afterwards, they will consider budget line item transfers and budget amendments, along with accounts payable.

Commissioners will meet Tuesday at 9 a.m. at the Washington County Courthouse.

  1. Just wondering. Are all these reserve deputies residents of Washington County or is the county spending tax payer dollars bonding an individual who doesn’t reside in Washington Co and what do they do to benefit our county or is this just a Buddy system to have some agency carry their peace officer commission?
