A Harris County man was sentenced to prison this week for his role in the armed robbery of a Dollar General store near Lake Somerville in 2021.

19-year-old Jayshua Dquan Marquis Lee Hedge pleaded guilty to first degree felony aggravated robbery charges and received a 23-year prison term from Judge Reva Towslee Corbett.  He was additionally sentenced to eight years in prison, to be served concurrently, for theft.

The robbery occurred just before 10 p.m. on August 14, 2021 at the Dollar General off FM 60 at County Road 410.

The Burleson County Sheriff’s Office said two masked men entered the store and demanded cash from the register before striking the clerk in the head with a handgun.  The men then took the money from the register and fled, eventually leading to a pursuit along FM 60 towards Lyons.

The chase ended in a subdivision on Park Road 57 when the suspects left the car and fled on foot into a wooded area. A search by law enforcement did not immediately lead to their capture, but Hedge was later arrested on an unrelated aggravated robbery charge in Harris County.

The clerk injured in the robbery was treated at a hospital in Bryan and released.
