BLINN BOARD TO VOTE ON INCREASED TUITION, FEES FOR 2023-24

  

The Blinn Board of Trustees will consider increases to student rates and fees for the 2023-24 Fiscal Year when it meets Monday.

At last month’s trustee meeting, the College proposed increases of $2 per semester credit hour for both in-district and out-of-district students, and $1 more per semester credit hour for non-resident students.  It is also looking to raise general fees by $2 per semester credit hour.

The added tuition and fees are projected to raise an additional $2.3 million in revenue for the College.

Student housing rates and meal rates would go up by an average of 5 percent.  Combined, Blinn predicts the housing and meal rate increases will net $609,000 more in revenue.

Under the new fee schedule, vehicle registration fees would be $10 more for the fall, spring and summer semesters, and $5 more for just the spring and summer semesters. 

Also on Monday, the board will act on authorizing the negotiation of contracts for facility improvements and repairs.  On the Brenham Campus, they include roof tile and facade repairs at the Old Main Building, the expansion of Parking Lot K, and repairing storm-related damages in the Blinn College Park Apartment Buildings 5, 6 and 7.  On the Bryan Campus, the contracts will cover building automation system upgrades and mechanical and plumbing contractor services for valve replacements in Buildings G and H.

In an executive session, trustees will consider allowing negotiations for custodial services on the Brenham, Bryan and RELLIS Campuses. 

The board will meet Monday at noon in the third-floor board room of the Brenham Campus Administration Building.
