BURTON LADY PANTHERS DEFEAT SOMERVILLE 14-0
The Burton Lady Panthers improved to 2-0 in district play with a dominating 14-0 win over the Somerville Lady Yeguas last (Tuesday) night.
In the second inning, Bailey Glaesmann drew a lead off walk, and later stole second base. Jennifer Lopez singled to move her to third, and Kalli Pohl walked to load the bases. Glaesmann came home on a passed ball, and Lopez stole home a short time after that to make it 2-0 Burton.
The Lady Panthers then put up five runs in the second inning. Paige Fritsch singled, and Amaya Williams followed with a walk. Glaesmann hit a doubled that brought Fritsch home. Aerynn Huntsman walked. Allie Biggs reached on an infield single that allowed Williams to score. Next, Lopez drew a bases loaded walk that brought home Glaesmann. Pohl drew another bases loaded walk that scored Huntsman. Two batters later, Reagan Roemer drew the third bases loaded walk of the inning that brought home Biggs, and increased Burton's lead to 7-0.
Burton had one more big inning as they put the game away with seven runs in the top of the fifth inning. The inning started with a Biggs single, and then back to back walks to Lopez and Pohl to load the bases. Melanie Wood then slugged a double to left that brought home Biggs and Lopez. Roemer followed with the second double in a row that scored Pohl and Wood. Glaesmann hit the third double of the inning for the Lady Panthers that scored Roemer. Huntsman then capped off the scoring with a two run inside the park home run that increased the Burton lead to 14-0.
Glaesmann got the win in the circle going five shutout innings, allowing just one hit in the third inning, two walks, and striking out seven.
Burton improves to 10-3 overall and 2-0 in district.

Next up, the Lady Panthers are scheduled to host North Zulch Friday at 5pm. So far North Zulch has had to cancel their first two district games including last (Tuesday) against Iola due to a lack of players.
Also last (Tuesday) night in district, Snook shutout Normangee 10-0. Mumford had a bye.
