LAKE CREEK DEFEATS THE CUBETTES 7-1 IN DISTRICT PLAY

The Brenham Cubettes dropped a district game to the top ranked Lake Creek Lady Lions 7-1 this (Tuesday) afternoon in Montgomery.

The Lady Lions put their initial run on the board in the bottom of the first inning off of Della Jasinski to make it 1-0 Lake Creek.

Lake Creek added two more runs in the third inning to take a 3-0 lead.

Brenham got their lone run in the fourth inning. Avery Maurer doubled, and then Halle Scheel laid down a sacrifice bunt. On the bunt, the second baseman made an error that allow Maurer to score to cut the lead to 3-1.

Lake Creek then put the game away with three runs in the fifth inning and one more run in the sixth inning to make it 7-1.

Lady Lion pitcher Ava Brown went seven innings allowing just three hits, one earned runs, and striking out ten.

Della Jasinski took the loss going six innings, allowing ten hits, seven runs, four were earned, five walks, and two strikeouts.

In addition to Maurer's double, the only other two Cubette hits came off the bat of Kaylyn Rodriguez.

Brenham drops to 17-7 overall, and 2-2 in district. Lake Creek is now 23-0 overall, and 4-0 in district.

The Cubettes are off now until next Tuesday, when they host Montgomery at 6:30pm at Alumni Field. KWHI will have live coverage begging with the pregame at 6:05pm.

  1. I looked up College Station’s Ava Brown on MaxPreps site, after hearing about her from Dripping Springs fans.
    Though she is on the opposition, Brenham readers should know how good she is. Her stats stand out kind of like our Jon Peters did back in the day.

    1. She is really good! She plays for Lake Creek and is worth the watch if you can get to see her! Good thing they play in Brenham next month.

        Either case she is in our district.
