COUNTY COMMISSIONERS DON’T CHANGE NAME OF ROAD
The name of Machemehl Road will not be changing to Old Bryan Road. County Judge John Durrenberger stated at Tuesday’s Commissioners Court meeting that Mr. Bryan had withdrawn the petition to change the name. The item died without a motion. The speed limit will be changing on Rocky Creek Manor Road however. The commissioners approved the change from the current 60 mph to 25 mph, for the ¾ of a mile section inside of the neighborhood. County Engineer Wesley Stolz proposed the speed limit after a traffic study was done. The new speed limit will take effect on April 11.
The commissioners also approved the purchase of a 30 foot towable boom lift for the Expo center. The lift will be a shared asset, so other departments can use it. The commissioners also approved the Mass Gathering permit, Right of Way permit, and road closers for the Annual Bluebonnet Festival in Chappell Hill. The event this year will take place April 15th and 16th.
The commissioners also:
- Proclaimed April as Child Abuse Prevention Month in Washington County.
- Proclaimed April as Safe Digging Month in Washington County.
- Approved the Salary Survey by the County.
- Approved several road bores and underground crossings of county roads.
- Approved a Subdivision Variance in Precinct 4.
- Approved a Bond for Reserve Deputy Sheriff Ruben Fuentes.
