BRENHAM CITY COUNCIL TO MEET ON THURSDAY

  

The Brenham City Council will hold their next monthly meeting on Thursday afternoon.

Among the items on the agenda is to certify an unopposed election for the office of  City Council Ward 3.  A special election was called when Atwood Kenjura decided to run for Mayor. Dr. Paul LaRoche was the only candidate to file for the position.  They will also vote on an order canceling the special election and declaring LaRoche the new Ward 3 Councilman.

The council is also scheduled to vote on rescinding their previous approval of the purchase of a Rapidview IBAK Trailer Mounted Pipeline Inspection System for the Wastewater Construction Department. The system is designed to detect sewer clogs.

The purchase was originally approved on March 2 for $181,000, but it turned out that the wrong proposal was submitted. City staffers are submitting the corrected proposal for $209,000. The equipment has a life expectancy of 20 years, and the staff believes it is worth the investment.

The City Council will also vote on an equipment financing proposal with the Bank of Brenham for a five year note at an interest rate of 4.95%.

Other agenda items include:

a Professional Services Agreement between the City of Brenham and Strand Associates for engineering services related to the 2023 Brenham Business Center Sanitary Sewer Extension,

and an Airport Project Participation Agreement for the Construction Phase of an Airfield Lighting Project for the Brenham Municipal Airport.

The Brenham City Council meets Thursday at 1pm at the Brenham City Hall.
