#1 RANKED LAKE CREEK DEFEATS CUBETTES 7-1

Avery Maurer (Mark Whitehead)

The defending state champion Lake Creek Lady Lions improved to 30-0 on the season with a 7-1 victory over the Brenham Cubettes last (Tuesday) night at Alumni Field.

The game was scoreless until the fourth inning when Lake Creek broke through for three runs.  They would score three more in the fifth, and one in the sixth.

Brenham’s lone run came in the bottom of the fourth when Halle Scheel scored on a wild pitch.

The Cubettes managed just two hits in the game, a double by Avery Maurer in the first inning and a single by Annie Beckendorf in the seventh.

Lady Lions starter Ava Brown, a Florida Gator commit, went the distance striking out 14 to get the win. Heidi Busker took the loss for the Cubettes.

The victory extends Lake Creek’s winning streak to 71 in a row.

With the loss, Brenham drops to third in the district. Next up, the Cubettes head to Montgomery on Friday for a 6:30pm game.
