MAGNOLIA WEST DEFEATS CUBS 13-4

Brady Rau (Mark Whitehead)

What started off as a night of potential turned into another defeat for the Brenham Cub Baseball Team as they fell to division leader, Magnolia West, 13-4.

Magnolia West jumped out to an early 3-0 lead in the bottom of the first with three runs, two of which scored on an error.

Brenham came back with a four-run second inning. Mustang pitcher Jackson Blank had control problems as he had a stretch of walking five out of six batters that cut the lead to 3-2. Jacob Mabie would then put the Cubs in front with a two run single that scored Ryland Wooten and Lane Sparks to put Brenham in front 4-3.

It would stay that way until the bottom of the 4th, when Magnolia West came up with four runs to re-take the lead 7-4. They would add five more runs in the 5th, and one in the 6th to seal the deal.

Dawson Keim took the loss on the hill. The Cub offense managed just two hits in the game. The other hit was a single by Brady Rau in the 7th inning.

Next up, the Cubs will travel to Magnolia on Tuesday night at 7pm.
