BLUE BELL, NINETY SIX WEST RECOGNIZED BY TEXAS TRAVEL AWARDS PROGRAM
Two destinations in Brenham have been honored by the 2023 Texas Travel Awards Program.
The winner in the statewide category for the most iconic tourist attraction was Blue Bell Creameries. The small market winner for restaurants was Ninety Six West.
The awards recognize and celebrate top travel destinations and attractions across Texas. Sponsored by the publishers of Austin Monthly, San Antonio Magazine and Texas Music, tourism marketers across the state are recognized for their efforts to bring tourism dollars to local destinations.
Statewide winners and winners in three population breakdowns were scored by a panel of judges that included travel industry professionals, travel journalists and a touring musician.

Statewide: Iconic Tourist Attraction – Blue Bell Creameries
The top tourist attraction for Brenham and Washington County, Blue Bell Creameries regularly draws more than 200,000 visitors annually and is typically swamped with visitors during Spring Break and Summer vacations. As a destination for Blue Bell fans, this home of “the best ice cream in the country” offers a Visitor Center complete with dates and historic artifacts, iconic television commercials, and more. The nearby Ice Cream Parlor and Country Store bracket the Observation Deck where visitors can watch the ice cream making process as it happens. Of course, no visit is complete without a Texas-sized scoop of ice cream from the Parlor (just $1), and a trip to the Country Store for a unique gift.
Restaurant: Small Market – Ninety Six West
Nearly a decade ago, on the square in Downtown Brenham, Ninety Six West opened its doors and was welcomed with open arms. This one-of-a-kind restaurant is named after Brenham’s latitude/longitude coordinates. Located in the old Shipman building and the Navratil Music House, Ninety Six West has a modern vibe paired with the patina and charm expected in historic Downtown Brenham. Exposed brick walls, beautiful wood and dark metal finishes are complimented with colorful art by local artists. Outdoor seating in Brenham’s first parklet on the square adds a charming dimension.
