MAGNOLIA RALLIES TO DEFEAT CUBETTES 6-3 IN ONE GAME PLAYOFF

The Magnolia Lady Bulldog Softball Team rallied with a five-run fifth inning to defeat the Brenham Cubettes in a one game playoff this (Monday) evening in Waller.

Brenham got things off on a good note as Avery Maurer led off the game with a solo home run to put the Cubettes up 1-0.

Magnolia tied it with a run in the bottom of the first inning to make it 1-1.

In the second inning, Stella Landry hit a one out single. Nevaeh Holmes came on to run for her. Two batters later, Maurer hit her second home run of the game, a two run shot over the left field fence. Brenham was then up 3-1.

It would stay that way until the bottom of the fifth inning, when the Lady Bulldog offense scored five runs off starter Della Jasinski. The key hits were an inside-the-park homer by Stevie South, and a two-run homer by Jade Bubke. Magnolia went in front 6-3.

Heidi Busker came on and got the last five outs to prevent any further damage.

Brenham had one more chance in the top of seventh. Maurer was intentionally walked, and Scheel singled. However, they just could not get the key hit to bring them in.

With the loss, the Cubettes drop into the #4 seed, and will face the District 22-5A Champions Lake Belton in the bi-district round of the playoffs. Playoff information is to be determined.
