ELECTION DAY FOR CITY, SCHOOL BOARD, BLINN BOARD RACES
Today (Saturday) is the day where Washington County residents will find out the results of the municipal, school board and Blinn Board of Trustees elections.
Anyone who did not take part in early voting has one last chance today to head to their designated polling location to vote in the City of Brenham mayor’s race, four seats on the Brenham School Board, four candidates for three spots on the Burton School Board, mayor and one council seat in Burton, and two trustee positions on the Blinn College Board.
Polls will be open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. at five polling places:
- Nancy Carol Roberts Memorial Library – 100 Martin Luther King Jr. Parkway, Brenham;
- Washington County Expo Event Center – 1305 East Blue Bell Road, Brenham;
- Brenham VFW Hall – 1200 East Tom Green Street, Brenham;
- Blinn College Student Center – 1007 Walter Schwartz Way, Brenham;
- Burton Community Hall/American Legion Hall – 13100 West Washington Street, Burton.
In Brenham, Keith Hofmann and Atwood Kenjura are vying for the position of mayor.
For Brenham ISD, Bonnie Brinkmeyer is running against James Franke for Position 1. Position 2 incumbent Dr. Michael Altman faces Archer Archer. Position 3 pits Kyle Hafner against Artis Edwards Sr. Position 4 incumbent Kelvin Raven is opposed by David Jantzi.
For the City of Burton, Karen Buck and David Zajicek are running for mayor, while the Position 3 council race features incumbent Jeff Eckhardt against Peter Horn.
On the Burton School Board, incumbents Dean Fuchs, Misty Lucherk and Donna Putnam, along with Ande Bostain, seek to fill three seats.
For the Blinn Board of Trustees race for Precinct 2, Diane Kruse Kettler faces Andrea Liner.
There were 3,026 ballots cast during early voting from 24,413 total registered voters, a turnout of 12.39 percent. Breaking that total down into individual entities:
- City of Brenham – 1,545 voters of 9,873 registered (15.64 percent early voting turnout),
- Brenham ISD – 2,889 voters of 21,653 registered (13.34 percent early voting turnout),
- Blinn College – 3,025 voters of 24,413 registered (12.39 percent early voting turnout),
- City of Burton – 19 voters of 263 registered (7.22 percent early voting turnout),
- Burton ISD – 137 voters of 2,699 registered (5.07 percent early voting turnout).
