MAN CHARGED WITH ATTEMPTED KIDNAPPING IN BELLVILLE
Bellville police arrested a man on Wednesday after an attempted abduction in the parking lot of a convenience store.
An officer who was driving by the Seven Eleven on East Main Street around 1:30 p.m. reported a woman was walking to her vehicle when a man, identified as 45-year-old Jesus Duarte Ramirez, pulled up in a truck, got out and grabbed her.
Police believe Ramirez saw law enforcement, prompting him to get back into his vehicle and drive away, starting a pursuit. The chase continued through Bellville and onto Highway 36 North before the suspect’s vehicle came to a stop on Kenney Hall Road.
According to police, Ramirez was seen snorting large amounts of what is believed to be cocaine as officers approached to apprehend him. He was transported from the scene to MidCoast Medical Center in Bellville to treat a possible narcotic reaction.
Ramirez is charged with Attempted Kidnapping, Evading Arrest and Tampering with Evidence. Investigation is still pending at this time.
The female victim was not physically injured.
