LAKE SOMERVILLE SLIGHTLY OVER FULL POOL, MINOR FLOODING FOR BRAZOS RIVER AT WASHINGTON

  

Several inches of rain over the past week have brought Lake Somerville a few feet over the standard full level and caused minor flooding for the Brazos River.

According to readings early this (Monday) morning from www.somerville.lakesonline.com, the lake measures at 242.18 feet.  That is 4 feet above the full pool cutoff of 238 feet and the highest the lake has been since June of 2021, when it was 244 feet.  The lake is still well shy of flood levels at 258 feet.

Meanwhile, the National Weather Service reports that the Brazos River at Washington is in minor flood stage, measuring at 35.5 feet this morning.  Minor flood stage starts at 30 feet, while moderate flood stage is 40 feet.

Other levels along the Brazos River include 18 feet near Bryan, 29.6 feet near Hempstead and 105.5 feet above San Felipe.

Since Sunday, May 7th, the City of Brenham has recorded 5.9 inches of rain, including highs of 1.77 inches on Sunday, 1.58 inches on Saturday and 1.28 inches on Tuesday.
