BRENHAM ISD TRUSTEES SWORN IN
Three new faces officially joined the Brenham School Board Monday night, while another returned for the start of a new four years.
Bonnie Brinkmeyer, Archer Archer and Kyle Hafner received the oath of office for the beginning of their tenure on the board. Kelvin Raven was sworn in for a third term.

After trustees were administered the oath, the board selected officers. Natalie Lange and Tommie Sullivan will remain as board president and vice president, respectively, while Jared Krenek will take on the role of secretary.
Returns from the May 6th election were canvassed and certified. Brinkmeyer received 2,322 votes to James Franke’s 1,159. Archer had 1,828 votes to Dr. Michael Altman’s 1,625. Kyle Hafner tallied 2,375 votes in comparison to Artis Edwards Sr.’s 1,095. Kelvin Raven took in 1,740 votes to David Jantzi’s 1,704.
In other business on Monday, the board approved a contract with AD2 Construction Services for $83,284 to repaint all campus kitchens. The cost for the repainting will be paid out of the fund balance of the child nutrition department, which is a federally funded program.
There were also several recognitions of student groups, including the nationally-qualifying Marine Corps Junior ROTC program and the district’s visual arts students.
The board also accepted a $2,500 donation from the Texas Arts & Music Festival toward Brenham High School’s art and choir program. Each year, the Texas Arts & Music Festival raises funds to go toward art and music programs for students in Brenham, Burton, Bellville and Sealy.
