WASHINGTON CO. RECOGNIZED FOR FINANCIAL REPORTING

  

Washington County has received recognition from the Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA) of the United States and Canada.

The county has been awarded the GFOA’s Certificate of Excellence in Financial Reporting for its annual comprehensive financial report for the fiscal year ended December 31, 2021. 

A release announcing the award reads that it is the highest form of recognition in the area of governmental accounting and financial reporting, and achieving it represents a significant accomplishment by a government and its management.

The financial report was judged by an impartial panel on whether it met program standards, which include demonstrating a constructive “spirit of full disclosure” to clearly communicate its financial story and motivate potential users and user groups to read the report.
