SIGN-UP DEADLINE JUNE 15 FOR UNITY THEATRE SUMMER DRAMA CAMPS

Students who are interested in expanding their knowledge in theatrics are running out of time to sign up for Unity Theatre’s Summer Drama Camps.

Families have until June 15th to submit their registration forms for the camps, which are for students entering grades 2-12.  Participants will receive lessons from Unity’s team of professional teaching artists and performers and learn how to create characters and bring theatrical performance to life on stage.

The “Creative Dramatics” camp will be held for second and third graders from July 10-14, culminating with a showcase performance on Saturday, July 15th.

Students in grades 4-6 have two options available to them.  The first is “Playbuilding”, running July 10-14 with a showcase on July 15th.  The other is “Acting in Performance, Jr.”, set for July 17-30.  Children who participate in the session will be cast as supporting characters in Unity’s summer musical production of “Jack and the Beanstalk”, which will play on the Main Stage July 27-30.  The registration fee covers four complimentary tickets to a showing.

For students grades 7-12, they are invited to “Acting in Performance: Showcase”.  The camp, taking place July 10-21, will audition, cast and rehearse for a black box production of “Every Novel You Read in High School (in 25 Minutes or Less)” by Ian McWethy.  The performance features a group of theater students as they attempt to present all the novels they read in high school before class lets out for the summer.  The camp ends with two showcase performances for family and friends.

Cost to attend the camp is $180 for “Creative Dramatics” and “Playbuilding”, $250 for “Acting in Performance, Jr.” and $350 for “Acting in Performance: Showcase”.  Space is limited and scholarships are available.
