BHS GRADUATE RECEIVES A DOCTORATE AND A BIG NEW JOB

  

A Brenham High School graduate, who just received her doctorate, will be starting a new job at a prestigious institution.

Dr. Emma Kathryn Groves completed the Doctoral program in Mathematics at North Carolina State University on May 8. 

Starting this month, Dr. Groves will be an Assistant Professor of Mathematics at the United States Military Academy in West Point, New York.

Dr. Groves is a 2013 graduate of Brenham High School. 

In remembering her time at BHS, Dr. Groves said that she is forever indebted to all the teachers that helped her along the way, but especially Ms. Cindy Markos, who instilled in her a love of calculus, and all things math.

Prior to going to North Carolina State, Dr. Groves graduated from Southwestern University in Georgetown in 2017 with a double major in Mathematics and Computer Science.

While at Southwestern, she was also inducted into the Phi Betta Kappa honor society, and was member of the Alpha Xi Delta sorority.

She is the daughter of Michael and Caroline Groves of Brenham.
