HOUSTON MAN ARRESTED FOR CREDIT DEBIT CARD ABUSE

A Houston man was arrested on Friday after Brenham Police discovered he was in possession of multiple personal items that did not belong to him.

Shortly after 12 noon, officers were dispatched to the 3100 block of Highway 36 South in reference to a fraud. 

Police report that a male suspect was said to be attempting to pass a fictious check.

After an initial investigation, officers found 48-year-old Clifton Benson to be in possession of several personal items from other people including checks and credit cards.

Benson was taken into custody for Fraudulent Use/Possession of Identifying Information Greater than five items. 

Police also discovered that Benson had an active warrant for Credit Card or Debit Card Abuse out of Washington County.

He was transported to the Washington County Jail.
