JULY SALES TAX REBATES ALL UP IN WASHINGTON CO.

  

Sales and tax distributions were up across the board in Washington County for the month of July.

The county collected a rebate of $394,862 this month, up 17.98 percent from last July’s $334,662.  Through 2023 so far, Washington County has received $2,779,088, a 13.22 percent increase from the $2,454,565 it had brought in at this time last year.

For the City of Brenham, the $801,398 rebate in July is an uptick of 9.51 percent from July 2022, when it received $731,755.  The city’s receipts for the year at this point are up 3.89 percent when equated to last year, totaling $5,447,007 in comparison to $5,242,743.

The City of Burton took in $8,605 for the month of July, which is 34.73 percent more than July of last year, when it took in $6,386.  To this point, the city’s total rebates for the year tally up to $65,778, 19.25 percent up from the $55,158 received through this time last July. 

According to Texas Comptroller Glenn Hegar, the state paid out $1.1 billion in local sales tax allocations this month, a 7.5 percent increase both from last July’s amount and for the year-to-date total when compared to 2022.
