Complain, complain, complain theirs just some people are not satisfied! Dr.Jackson or Dr Chaplin were good people just trying to push bisd into the 21st century education!
Didn’t get his way with the bonds and made a financial mess…sounds messy! But we could do without his cronies he brought with him too, who all also make around $100k+.
“…changes that the district will benefit from for years to come.”
Such as ongoing deficits and decreased performance?
Interesting timing….leaving after a deficit? Make a mess and leave?
The decreased performance is on par with what has been reported on COVID learning loss nationally, but that’s not to say that COVID is the only reason. Kids are not the same as 10 or 20 years ago, even in Brenham. The district can be blamed to a point on performance, but let’s be real: on test days, teachers aren’t the ones taking the tests. As the old saying goes, you can lead a horse to water, but you can’t make him drink.
WOW, here we go again. Then we wonder why the things that are happening in the school’s are ‘happening”. No offense to anyone but can we get it right this time? Lets perhaps look for someone who just might be in it for the long haul. 3 to 5 years is not enough to dedicate time to what is needing to happen in the district as a whole. I am just curious, so he had no idea he was going to retire this soon after accepting this position. How about hiring a Brenhamite as the Superintendent, instead of having her at another district.
The AVERAGE tenure of a Superintendent in Texas today is 3.5 years. No opinion just facts.
Dr Chaplin did a tremendous job during his tenure as Superintendent. Starting during a global pandemic is no easy task, but Dr Chaplin handled every situation with professionalism and always wanted what was best for the children of Brenham. People can disagree all they want about bonds or this or that, but the man’s heart was in the right place. He will be missed. I wish nothing but the best for Dr Chaplin.
Could the under reported deficit which was initially report at $2.2 million but was really $3.7 million have anything to do with it?
Or could it be the district is bleeding teachers, not refilling those positions (because of said deficit), increasing the classroom size (asking teachers to do more without the pay), not decreasing the number of employees at the administrative level (central office) or at the bare minimum cut their own salaries under his watch?
Only right at this point, the school district is a complete mess, teachers jumping ship left and right and students underachieving at unheard of rates for Brenham, he’s a nice man but our school district seems to be in shambles
Sounds fishy come work for 2 years and then want to retire They need to hire someone that will stay for a while.
