FAYETTE COUNTY METH ARREST
A Smithville man was arrested early Friday morning following a traffic stop near La Grange.
Fayette County Sheriff’s Deputy Austin Moore attempted a traffic stop on a vehicle shortly after midnight. The vehicle initially would not stop.
When Deputy Moore finally got the driver to pull over, he conducted a probable cause search.
The search led to the discovery of drug paraphernalia and two bags of methamphetamines.
43-year-old James Copeland was arrested for Possession of a Controlled Substance more than 4 grams, but less than 200 grams, which is a second-degree felony.
Copeland was transported to the Dan R. Beck Justice Center, where he was turned over to jail staff without further incident.
