TEXAS TAX-FREE WEEKEND RUNS AUG. 11-13
Shoppers will be able to save money on items like clothing and school supplies during the state’s upcoming sales tax holiday.
The tax-free weekend will begin on Friday, August 11th and continue through Sunday, August 13th.
The holiday exempts sales tax on qualified items priced below $100, saving shoppers about $8 for every $100 they spend. The Texas Comptroller’s Office estimates that shoppers will save $136 million in state and local sales tax during this year’s holiday.
Qualifying items can be purchased tax-free during the holiday either online or by telephone, mail or custom order, as well as in-store. The exemption only applies to items purchased during the sales tax holiday; items bought before or after the holiday do not qualify, and there is no tax refund available.
Items that are eligible during the tax-free holiday can be seen online at www.texastaxholiday.org.
